Why is there so much information on weight loss?

When you decide to find out more about weight loss, you will likely be astonished at how much information can be found out there.

Just put weight loss into Google and see how many results will come up.

Without doing that, there is a plethora of books, articles, recorded programs and so on. You would have to be around for centuries to absorb all of it.

You can either decide to ignore the subject completely or you can try to make sense out of it. There is yet one more choice which should be avoided which is to blindly follow any advice that you happen to come across.

Blindly following anything is of course dangerous.
Ignoring the subject of weight loss is hardly an option for anybody.

Even if you are one of the rare individuals who has always maintained the perfect weight, you most certainly know people close to you who face a weight problem. They are going to talk about it so you will want to listen and help.

It is not likely that those who suffer excess pounds ignore it completely even if they appear to be doing so. They may have given up on the surface but deep inside they wish for the pounds to go away.

So why is there so much information on how to lose weight?

A cynical person might reply that it is so because there is money to be made with it.

While that may be partially true, it is not a complete answer by any means. There are millions of honest people who each believe that they have the solution to putting on weight.

They are absolutely convinced that their healthy eating menu will help people with weight loss. Balanced diet menu should work for everyone it seems but then the question arises what is the definition of balanced.

Diets for men are probably created by people who had great success with a particular diet and just can’t keep it to themselves. The author of such diet will probably be a man or his loving wife, mother, sister or a dear friend and they will generalize to a great degree by calling it "diet for men".

Diets for women will be created by someone, likely a woman or a loving husband etc., who succeeded with their particular and for them superb diet program.

Weight loss after childbirth may be an irresistible subject to write on for somebody successful in this area.

We could go on with low carbohydrate diet, high protein diet, low fat diet and many more examples.

What is really important to realize is that the weight loss solutions that are out there are all valid for somebody.

The catch is that they each may only be working really well for the person that created them and some few that followed with good results.

There is simply no way of knowing for sure how well a specific weight loss program will work for you. Whatever program you decide to choose, you want to be sure that your health won’t be compromised.

Do you know that there are 4 grams of sugar in every teaspoon of sugar? You might ask "So why is this important?" There are significant scientific studies written in many medical journals that show sugar can ruin your health.  Many of us understand the connection between sugar and weight gain but few know the connection to mineral loss or the changes that happen to our blood chemistry or to our ability to digest food and produce the proper enzymes.

Some of the signs of sugar problems include: feeling sleepy after meals, allergies, gas, bloating, extended stomach, joint pain, headaches, chronic fatigue, constipation, diarrhea, excess weight, skin problems and high blood pressure.

In order to understand why it is important to limit or even eliminate sugar from your diet, you must first understand how sugar is processed in the body.  The human species originally ate high fiber foods with nutrients that contained natural sugars in very limited amounts.  But our diet today is saturated with processed foods high in fats and sugar.  Did you know that even some packaged hot dogs and meat slices contain sugar? Our poor digestive system cannot handle our standard diet.  This is often referred to as the "SAD Diet" Standard American Diet.  And SAD it is!

Researchers now know what happens to the minerals in our bodies when sugar and processed or fried foods are ingested in more than moderate amounts.  The minerals in our body depend on a process called homeostasis in our blood to remain in balance.  Minerals can only work in relation to each other. Calcium increases and phosphorous decreases when we consume too much sugar upsetting their optimal ratio or their relationship to one another.  When calcium increases beyond the ratio it becomes toxic and can cause any number of ailments including but not limited to: plaque on the teeth, kidney stones, arthritis, cataracts, bone spurs, hardening of the arteries, gallbladder stones, cataracts and bone spurs.

Are you still saying "so what, who cares?" When these mineral levels decrease dramatically we do not produce sufficient enzymes to digest our foods properly.  This is because enzymes are depended on minerals in our body to work efficiently. When the enzyme process breaks down partially digested food can get directly into our bloodstream where it is treated as an invader. Some doctors have called this "leaky gut syndrome". This in turn forces the immune system to respond resulting in respiratory ailments and inflammation.

In short, too much sugar weakens our whole body in significant ways, and exhausts our immune system.  These factors add to our inability to lose weight. It is a never ending cycle. Even though we may feel we are dieting, we are actually still consuming foods with sugar, in many of its different forms. Check your packaging anything ending is "ose" is a good bet for sugar, like glucose, fructose etc. The way to support your body to lose weight is to eat natural foods, drink little or no caffeine and stay away from processed refined additive heavy foods.
